The Source Find Canada Journey through Global and European Fashion
Our Journey
The Liberties, one of Dublin’s oldest neighborhoods, is all about trade, craftsmanship, and strong community connections. By 1907, it was a bustling hub industry and artisan work, with trading traditions dating back to medieval times. It was home to Dublin’s guilds and markets, where merchants and craftsmen exchanged goods. By the early 20th century, The Liberties became well-known for weaving, textiles, brewing, and distilling, playing a vital role in the city's economy.
Textiles and Tailoring: The Liberties had a reputation for textile production and tailoring, with artisans like my great-grandfather, Patrick O’Reardon, thriving in local workshops. These skilled craftsmen were known for their high-quality work, catering to both local and international markets. The area was also recognized for its breweries and distilleries, including the famous Guinness Brewery and Powers Distillery, which became symbols of quality. These industries significantly contributed to the growth of The Liberties.
Street Markets: The lively markets around Meath Street and Thomas Street have always been central to the neighborhood, offering everything from local produce to handcrafted items. These markets continue to embody the community spirit and serve as vital trade hubs.
Throughout the 20th century, The Liberties became a symbol of resilience, maintaining its reputation for quality craftsmanship despite economic challenges. It fostered a strong community where local businesses supported one another.
A New Legacy: My wife and I met in Australia, got married in Toronto and had our first child in Amsterdam. Upon moving back to Canada in 2019, we started Source Find Canada on source brands that create and build based on the craftsmanship and community values rooted in my Dublin heritage. Like our great-grandfather Patrick, who established his tailor shop on Abbey Street, we prioritize trust, quality, and relationships, offering quiet luxury, sustainable, and well-crafted products to Canadian consumers.
Our business reflects the values that guided my great-grandfather's shop:
-
Craftsmanship: We collaborate with brands committed to high-quality craftsmanship, ensuring every product embodies its artistry.
-
Quality: Our focus extends to building strong relationships, embodying the integrity of our business.
-
Sustainability: We emphasize ethical sourcing and environmentally responsible production methods in our partnerships.
-
Community: We cultivate strong ties with Canadian and support local initiatives.
Source Find Canada today represents a commitment to our Dublin heritage, adapted to the Canadian market. We honor craftsmanship, quality, and community at every stage, not just distributing luxury apparel but continuing a legacy rooted in values.
